Dr. Shobana Vignesh is a celebrated performer, educationist and visionary entrepreneur, whose life’s work is a harmonious blend of artistry, scholarship, and innovation. Dr. Shobana’s artistic journey began remarkably early—she recorded her first album at the tender age of 12, embarking on a musical odyssey that would see her record over 150 albums across multiple Indian languages, captivating audiences with her versatility and depth. Her resonant voice and soul-stirring performances have graced prestigious stages around the world, from iconic Indian sabhas to celebrated international concert halls, earning her a devoted global following.

Renowned as one of the youngest performing artists to be awarded a Doctoral Degree in Music, Dr. Shobana’s academic prowess is as profound as her artistic expression. Her doctoral research focused on the comparative study of Western and South Indian operas, marking her as a rare confluence of tradition and global perspective. She also holds a Master’s in Mass Communication and Journalism, and is a proud alumna of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, having completed their elite program in Mastering Design Thinking.

Dr. Shobana Vignesh’s academic journey is a testament to her deep-rooted passion for both the performing arts and interdisciplinary learning. A unique blend of tradition and innovation, her educational accomplishments span world-renowned institutions and diverse fields of study.

She is certified in Mastering Design Thinking from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, bringing a modern, solution-driven approach to her artistic and educational endeavors. She holds a PhD in Music from Mother Teresa University, India, with a highly commended thesis exploring A Comparative Study of Western and South Indian Operas. Her MPhil in Music, also highly commended, delves into Interculturalism in Carnatic Music from an ethnomusicological perspective.

In addition to her advanced studies in music, Dr. Shobana holds a Master’s in Music, a Master of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism from Alagappa University, and a Bachelor’s in Music from the University of Madras. Her proficiency in Western classical music is reflected in her 8th Grade certification in Theory and 6th Grade in Practical Solo Piano from the Trinity College of Music, London.
